Scandinavian Home Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, established in 1930, is a non-profit 74 bed nursing home located in the Edgewood neighborhood of Cranston, Rhode Island.  Each floor of our RI nursing home is a separate unit enabling the formation of close bonds with residents and families.  Our dedicated nursing staff provides patient-centered care, which includes primary nursing assignments for our certified nursing assistants.  Family education and support groups are also offered to meet various needs.

Short Term Rehabilitative Care      

Short Term Rehabilitative care is specialized for individuals with orthopedic, surgical, and medical needs following a disabling event. Our RI skilled rehabilitation center offers daily on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy to assist each resident in achieving their desired outcome to return to their optimum level of health and independence.

Long Term Care

Since 1930, it has been our privilege to provide care to our community.  The diverse resident population of our RI nursing home enjoys an array of activities including fine dining, breakfast club, and individualized activity programs for different levels of function.  Resident Council has ongoing active participation allowing residents to know they have a say in their lives.  Spiritual support is available through our chaplaincy program.

End of Life Care

As part of our culture change in the continuum of care, we offer "Passages" to residents and families.  "Passages" emulates the commitment of Scandinavian Home to provide each resident with physical, emotional and spiritual comfort at the end of life.  "Passages" also insures the security of already established relationships between resident, family and staff.  Our "Passages" Team includes our Medical Director, Nursing Staff, Social Services Director and Chaplain.  This team is knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the dying and their loved ones.  Hospice is an available option.
